      What do I do in a mental health crisis?

      When I attended a support group seminar at NAMI ( National Alliance on Mental Illness) they explained a strategy called WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) . This was a plan put in place to follow when you are in a crisis.

      FIRST Tell someone – family member anyone close to call the suicide hotline if you need to. They are there to hear you. ( 1 800 273-8255)

      SECOND- Decipher whether your symptoms are serious enough to go to the hospital or not

      THIRD- Follow up with your doc/therapist

      FOURTH- I write down everything that didn’t work last time in journal so if my doc asks me about medication. I know what date I changed medication, Im equipped and ready. KEEP A JOURNAL of mood/habit changes.

      FIFTH – Follow as directed with med changes if need be make sure you read side effects.

      SIXTH-MEDITATE- with songs or sounds/pray/ exercise if you have the strength

      I have this written in my journal I call it the REFLECT/ RELEASE. RELAX AND REWIND.

      REFLECT- WHATS GOING ON
      RELEASE- TELL SOMEONE
      RELAX-TRUST LET THE MEDS DO THE WORK LET GOD/UNIVERSE DO THE WORK
      REWIND- REWIND ALL AND REPEAT AS NEEDED.
